About Me
I am a school psychologist who has been working in the field for over twenty years. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana and my Master of Education and my Educational Specialist degrees at National-Louis University.
A school psychologist wears many hats. We help children with their academic, social, and emotional needs. We collaborate with parents, teachers, school staff, and other professionals to help create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment for our students. We work with children individually and in groups; we help facilitate and/or strengthen relationships between teachers, parents, and service providers in the community; we provide psychological counseling; we evaluate children to help determine eligibility for special education services; we evaluate learning environments; we provide interventions for students; and we help promote tolerance, understanding, and appreciation of diversity within the school community.
Each day brings a new responsibility or challenge which keeps things interesting! My days are filled with various things, such as working with a student or group of students, administering tests, consulting with a teacher about their student, or attending meetings for special education students or students on an intervention plan.
